1. Compression fitting connection - pressure range: 250 – 800 Bar; applicable steel pipe size range: 4 – 42 mm; applicable materials: carbon steel and stainless steel.
Compression fittings consist of three parts: fitting body, ferrule, and nut. When the ferrule and nut are inserted into the fitting body after being sleeved on the steel pipe, when the nut is tightened, the outer front end of the ferrule fits the conical surface of the fitting body, and the inner edge bites into the seamless steel pipe evenly to form an effective seal.
Advantages: widely used and mature; relatively low-priced parts; no special machines are required.
Disadvantages: only suitable for pipe connections below 42 mm; not suitable for thin-walled pipes; requires a large installation space and torque during installation; not suitable for working conditions with high safety requirements; cannot be used for working conditions with strong vibration, impact and pulse.
2. JIC37 degree fitting connection - pressure range: 420 Bar (250 Bar, 100 Bar); applicable steel pipe size range: 6 – 38 mm; applicable materials: carbon steel, stainless steel, brass, copper alloy, etc.
The JIC 37 degree joint connection consists of three parts: the joint body, the bushing, and the nut. After the bushing and the nut are inserted into the steel pipe, the expansion equipment is used to expand the steel pipe end, and then the joint body and the nut are tightened, and the rigid seal and O-ring seal are achieved through the conical contact surface.
Advantages: Widely used and mature; Applicable to a wide range of materials; Simple and convenient installation; Can be repeatedly disassembled and assembled.
Disadvantages: Only suitable for pipe connections below 38mm; Low nominal pressure (except DNV standards); Not suitable for thick-walled pipes; Requires expansion equipment to form the end.
3. End forming connection (Walform) - Pressure range: 250-800 Bar; Applicable steel pipe size range: 4-42 mm; Applicable materials: carbon steel, stainless steel, copper alloy, etc. [3]
Walform connection is an alternative connection method to the ferrule connection. After the female sleeve is inserted into the steel pipe, the forming equipment is used to automatically extrude and form the steel pipe end. After the sealing ring is installed, the joint body and the nut are tightened, and the rigid seal between the joint body and the forming surface and the sealing ring is sealed.
Advantages: low torque and safe installation; fast and simple manufacturing process; advanced technology and no leakage; can be repeatedly disassembled and assembled.
Disadvantages: only suitable for pipe connections below 42mm; the tail end of the forming equipment is required to form.
4. Socket welding connection - pressure range: 420 Bar (only for small diameter); applicable steel pipe size range: 6 – 150 mm; applicable materials: carbon steel and stainless steel.
Socket welding connection is to extend the pipe into the valve body for welding, and the appearance after forming is similar to that of the internal thread connection.
Advantages: wide application; low price of parts; advanced technology and no leakage; it is a simple connection method for low-pressure systems.
Disadvantages: skilled welding workers are required; welding equipment, good ventilation environment and fire prevention measures are required; special cleaning and anti-corrosion treatment are required; it will cause environmental pollution.
5. Butt welding connection - Pressure range: 500 Bar (only for small pipe diameter); Applicable steel pipe size range: 6 – 608 mm; Applicable materials: carbon steel and stainless steel.
There are butt welding flange connection and butt welding joint connection.
Advantages: Wide application; Low price of parts; Advanced technology and no leakage; Simple pipe-to-pipe connection.
Disadvantages: Requires skilled welders; Requires welding equipment, good ventilation environment and fire prevention measures; Requires special cleaning and anti-corrosion treatment; Can cause environmental pollution.
